Who is Dr. Marc Bono?
Dr. Marc Bono, Psy. D., is a distinguished Clinical Psychologist licensed in Connecticut. He holds a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from SUNY Albany and a Doctorate in Psychology with a unique focus on Addictions Counseling from the United States International University in San Diego, California. With over 25 years of experience in addiction treatment, Dr. Bono boasts a comprehensive background in the field.​

His accomplishments include serving as the first doctoral intern and later as a Clinical Psychologist at the prestigious Betty Ford Center. He also held the position of Drug and Alcohol Program Director for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where he implemented an innovative treatment model that significantly reduced recidivism rates. As the Lead Trainer and Consultant for a four-year, statewide Integrated Dual Diagnosis Implementation Project in California, Dr. Bono successfully redesigned the program to achieve remarkable outcomes in reducing homelessness and psychiatric hospitalizations.

In more recent years, Dr. Bono has served as the Director of Mental Health Services for Rushford Inc. in Meriden, Connecticut. This organization is a designated Local Mental Health Authority for the Meriden/Middletown region, providing comprehensive services for individuals grappling with severe mental health and addiction disorders.

Dr. Bono's extensive experience extends to various private and governmental organizations, where he has developed and contributed to numerous treatment facilities, such as The Office for Dual Recovery and Waterstone Counseling. These organizations specialize in the treatment of dual diagnosis and offer innovative, highly effective treatment models for opiate addiction, with multiple locations throughout Connecticut. In addition, Dr. Bono has held the position of Associate Professor at two community colleges with addiction treatment programs, spearheading the development of the first certification program focused on the treatment of co-occurring disorders.
